Soluble Oil (Water-Based Emulsion)
Most common shop coolant. Mix 5-10% with water.
- Best for: General steel, cast iron, aluminum, stainless

- Cons: Bacterial growth, disposal regulated, mist exposure
- Don’t use for: Hard turning (CBN inserts crack), polycarbonate (stress crack), Swiss-type guide bushings
Synthetic Coolant

- Best for: Titanium, Inconel, deep drilling, hard-to-machine materials
- Pros: Triples tool life on superalloys, breaks chips, removes heat
- Cons: $5-15k pump cost, requires TSC machine
Air Blast (Dry)
