How to read ISO grade ranges
The letter is the workpiece group: P steel, M stainless steel, K cast iron, S heat-resistant alloys and titanium. A lower number (01–10) means a harder, more wear-resistant grade for higher cutting speeds and finishing; a higher number (30–40) means a tougher grade for interrupted cuts and roughing. Pick the equivalent from the same range as your current grade, then match the insert shape and chipbreaker.
